Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more about Happy Acres? Here are some answers to commonly asked questions. If you don't find the information you need here, drop us an email at HappyAcresPetRescue@gmail.com.
Where do the animals at Happy Acres come from?
We foster primarily from Macon County Animal Control & Care Center in Decatur, Illinois.
What types of pets/animals do you help?
We typically focus on helping dogs and cats who are struggling in the shelter environment. We can give them more personal attention and socialization opportunities to prepare them for their forever homes.
Is your shelter open to the public?
We are currently fostering from our homes, until building is completed at Happy Acres. We are therefore not open to the public at this time.
How do I adopt a pet from Happy Acres?
Information on how to adopt will be posted with each pet on Facebook. Our animals may come from different facilities, each with their own adoption process.
I can no longer care for my pet. Can I bring it to Happy Acres?
At this time, we only accept animals from shelters. Please reach out to your local animal control center or your veterinarian for assistance.
How can I support Happy Acres?
You can help by sharing our Facebook posts and promoting pet adoptions. Financial contributions and donations of goods, such as canned dog food, treats, paper towels and cleaning solutions, are much appreciated. You can also purchase and donate items from our Wish List on Chewy.com.
Until building is complete at our new location, hands-on volunteer opportunities are limited. But there are always ways to help, and we are grateful for your support. Please message us on Facebook to learn more.
Is Happy Acres a registered non-profit organization?
Yes, we are! Happy Acres Pet Rescue was granted status as a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) charitable organization in November 2023. That means that your contributions are tax deductible.
